Jacquelyn Manduley joined the IDCRC Administrative Team as a project director in February 2023. She has worked for Emory University for over six years and has nearly 20 years of experience in higher education administration

What is your professional background?

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration from Florida State University (FSU). After earning my undergraduate degree, I worked in higher education administration at Florida State University in positions focusing on academic program administration. After gaining several years of experience and working my way up, I took advantage of the tuition benefits and pursued an MBA degree while continuing to work full time at FSU. With my master’s degree, I was able to pivot into finance and operations management. I joined the University Business Administrators unit at FSU, where I worked as a director of finance for the FSU College of Law. When I moved to Atlanta, I found that research administration allowed me to leverage my background in finance and administration. I joined Emory University Research Administrative Services in 2018 as a post award administrator III and was later promoted to post award manager for the Department of Pediatrics.

Briefly tell us about your path to the IDCRC.

After several years of working for a centralized administrative unit partnering with a department, I was interested in providing more direct support and having a closer partnership with those performing the research. When the project director position was available at the IDCRC, it felt like an excellent opportunity to become a part of a focused team in which I am helping to facilitate meaningful research. Personally, as a parent to a young child and being familiar with vaccine misinformation, the idea of supporting contributions to vaccine knowledge felt particularly valuable and I was very excited to join the team.

Describe your role with the IDCRC.

As a project director on the IDCRC administrative team, I have a variety of responsibilities. I have a dual reporting role to the IDCRC Leadership Operations Center and the IDCRC Clinical Operations Unit. One of my primary responsibilities is tracking and projecting VTEU funding needs and drafting and issuing intent to fund memos to guide and support VTEU funding requests. I also support various committees, including the Publications Committee, the Pilot Awards Subcommittee, and the Research Staff Training Subcommittee.

What has been the most impactful or highlight of your IDCRC work?

I’ve really enjoyed contributing to the annual meetings. It feels like a truly collaborative effort to plan, and it is very rewarding seeing the network come together and share ideas and accomplishments.
