Mary Healy, MD, named IDCRC Clinical Operations Unit (COU) Co-Director
The IDCRC Leadership Group (LG) is pleased to announce that (Catherine) Mary Healy, MD, has recently accepted the position of Clinical Operations Unit (COU) co-director, effective July 2024. Dr. Healy joins the COU in this role following the recent retirement of Jeff Lennox, MD. She will join Robert Atmar, MD, COU co-director, in providing effective operational support, efficient management, and oversight for the LG’s clinical research portfolio.
"Mary is an outstanding, experienced clinical investigator. I look forward to working with her as she brings her expertise to the COU," says Robert Atmar, MD.
Dr. Healy is an associate professor of pediatrics, in the Section of Infectious Diseases, at Baylor College of Medicine. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Healy has been involved in clinical research for over two decades. Her research interests focus on preventing infections through immunization for all age groups, with a special interest in maternal immunization, particularly in evaluating immunization strategies to prevent severe pertussis in infants. She has also served as a co-investigator for the Baylor VTEU and has been intimately involved with IDCRC/VTEU projects where Baylor serves as a clinical site, including as national co-chair of Stage 2 (adolescent) Mpox clinical trial. She also is an active researcher in strategies to improve vaccination uptake. She serves as a member of the Committee on Infectious Diseases (COID or “Red Book Committee”) for the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Healy as she takes on this new role for the IDCRC.
